Porto, meet restaurant NANIKA
We just flipped the sign to “open” on the internet. NANIKA’s website is live—our first pour of sake before the full izakaya buzz kicks in.
What we’re about
NANIKA is an izakaya-type restaurant with a split personality—in the best way. Think small plates, big flavors, cold drinks, loud laughs. The menu walks three paths:
- Nikkei: where Japan and Peru bump elbows—tiraditos, bright citrus, umami sneaking in through the side door.
- Traditional Japanese: clean broths, crisp tempura, char from the grill, knife work that does the talking.
- Traditional Peruvian: honest ceviches, causas with attitude, the comfort dishes that taste like home.
And every so often, something random joins the party—because good ideas don’t always ask permission.
Take a look around
On the site you’ll find a tight menu that changes with what’s fresh, a peek at our snacks and sharers, and the kind of dishes that pair well with an extra round. No acrobatics, no foam—just solid cooking, done right.
Stay in the loop
We’re tuning the grills and lining up the fish. The website is where you’ll see opening dates, reservations, pop-ups, and other fun detours. Drop your email into the waitlist, follow along, and check the blog for short stories about the dishes, their roots, and the road that brought us here.
For the neighborhood
We’re proud to be part of Porto—Matosinhos in particular—where the sea is close and people care about what’s on the plate. We buy smart, cook with respect, and keep the room warm enough that you stay for “just one more.”
What’s next
The team is in rehearsal mode: tasting, tweaking, grilling, chilling. When the doors open, expect food that travels well between sake, pisco, and beer—bright, clean, and dangerously snackable.
Come by
For now, the website is your front door. Step in, have a look, and get hungry. We can’t wait to pour you a drink and send out the first plate.
Note: We’ll keep the site updated with the opening date and the latest details. Specific location will be revealed within a few weeks!
